Reaching Your Class

We have heard it and heard it and heard it. But it is tried and true. Kids love to get mail. Make it a "habit" to send your class mail every week.

Besides reaching the kids midweek and keeping class fresh in their minds as the week continues...sending mail is an excellent way to find out if someone has moved or your information is incorrect. In fact at the beginning of the year when I get a new class, I immediately send out a mailing to the class based on the addresses I am given from the previous year’s role. Two things are accomplished. One-your class is contacted. Two-you are letting the post office do your legwork. If a child has moved over the summer as many children in our ministry are living in transient situations, if that address is no longer current, it will come back to you most likely. Thus, giving you a heads up on trying to "find" that child and perhaps moving that up as a priority and two it saves you time on your visitation going to an address that is no longer current. As the year continues you can send a flyer with class information preparing the children for the upcoming lesson. You can send a memory verse on the flyer and offer a prize for each child that comes in and can say it to you without looking. You can send postcards with simply, we missed you, our “class is not complete when you are not here” type message. One I particularly enjoy sending is a card to each child simply saying, I prayed for you today. Another idea is to think upon each child and send them a note telling them a specific positive about them that you admire...something that makes them special....send a card telling them how God loves them and has them in His Hands. The ideas really are endless if you put your heart and mind into it....ask God to give you ideas. I have found Him to be my greatest "resource" for ideas on reaching kids.

I hope this helps you. I have found the kids respond positively to it and it really takes very little time to do compared to the impact it has on the children's hearts.

Loving little ones for Him,

Ms. Pamela
