This idea requires very little time. And actually that is the appeal for me. Let me explain.
We have the children for only a short time each week and when I have a room full of kids and we are "waiting" on something to happen next or someone to come, I do not want any of HIS time wasted with the children. So I am always on the lookout for "fillers", an idea that will get a point across about my Jesus that will only take a couple of minutes to share. The result? You have no "down" time with the kids and you maximize every moment for HIM.
For instance: Have the children wrap their arms around themselves and squeeze hard....give themselves a great big bear hug....make exaggerated noises etc. When the novelty of that has worn off, tell the children to let go. At that point you begin to share how Jesus never lets go of us. Once we ask Him into our hearts to be our Savior, He never leaves and He never lets go. I like to use Hebrews 13:5b, for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
