The "muddy water" demo uses iodine which I had as betadine that is widely used as a surgical scrub. The other chemical is sodium thiosulfate. This can be ordered but I was able to acquire some from the local college chemistry lab.
Start with a clear container full of water. You then begin to add iodine (betadine) and each time you add more the water will become darker and darker. You can use this to illustrate the result of sin in one’s life. The more we dabble in sin, the worse our life becomes. Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay and cost you more than you want to pay. (Sounds like a good song) Then you can add the thiosulfate. Just a drop of two and the water will become crystal clear again. The same thing that happens to our life when we give our sin to Jesus.
