What is 2-4-K? We're glad you asked. Literally it stand for, $2 for Kids. What does that mean? Let us explain. One of the hardest things we have to do as home missionaries is raise support. Most people and even some churches don't see what we do as needing support. However, nothing could be further from the truth. We all live by faith. Even though churches give us love offerings, there is no set amount for that love offering, and offerings vary from church to church. Now add to that, we all have trucks (which none of us would have if it were not for this ministry), we all have trailers (ditto again), and we all drive crazy amounts of miles every year ministering to churches and their children. It is truly hard to live just on love offerings. Add to that, none of us travel more than 47 weeks out of the year. Now, imagine you trying to live an entire year on just 47 weeks of pay, or if some churches cannot meet your needs the week you are there, you are now living 52 weeks on just 40 weeks of total pay. But... it would be easy for all of us if everyone that we know just gave a little. If all of our friends just donated $2 per month. We would never have to ask for any one to support us ever again. Just $2. We spend that much on coffee's and soda's that we don't even finish. What if we just donated that to help kids. That is less than $.07 per day. Each year we choose summer interns to travel in the months of June and July with our teams. Steve and Cheryl take 3 interns each month and the all other teams take 2 interns. If you are interested in being an intern get your application from the intern page and submit it along with all of the necessary items. Also, you can start studying the items below. You will need to know these. We will add more each year after the team is chosen.
Cheryl is Steve's wife. They have been married for almost 40 years and have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. Cheryl is a gifted teacher, with two Masters Degrees from Campbellsville University and University of the Cumberlands. She is a teacher's teacher. She has taught other classroom management and how to stay on task. She works with special needs students and does her best to keep those students learning and growing at their pace. Cheryl brings a plethora of tools to Cool Kids. She can teach you how to organize your classroom, motivate your students, keep discipline in any situation and do it all with a smile on your faced. But more than anything else, she can teach you have to love your students with the Love of God. Cheryl is a soulwinner! And her enthusiasm to reach students will rub off on you too. She is Steve's right hand, most of his brain and (if he is honest) the one with all of the good ideas. She can help you and your ministry. Kelsey Wilson joined the Cool Kids Ministries team in May of 2017. Steve and Cheryl have known Kelsey since she was 8 years old. She has grown up in a pastor's home and began traveling with Cool Kids as an intern in 2011 and traveled each summer for 4 straight years. Kelsey understands ministry. She learned everything about being an intern and how to do the job very well. She also learned how to train others to do that job equally well. Kelsey is a 2016 graduate of Baptist Bible College with a Bachelor's in Education. Kelsey will be heading up the entire intern team for Cool Kids Ministries. Each year she will help select the interns, write the devotions for each group, select the skits, make job and travel assignments and more. All of those years of being an intern have more than qualified her to train interns. We are truly excited to have Kelsey as part of out team and know that she will do an excellent job.
As of 2019, Kelsey will also be doing some Kidz Storm programs on her own. So as well as being in charge of the interns, she will be setting up her own schedule and going around the country doing Kidz Storms and reaching children for the cause of Christ as well. We are truly excited to have Kelsey take on this new endeavor and step out on her own. We know that she is going to do awesome!
We are also excited because in the future we want to Kelsey to help us reach young ladies around the world. Kelsey will be helping to train young ladies in other countries how to serve the Lord, be good stewards at their churches and so much more. She will also help Cool Kids Ministries as we line out our trips and make it possible for us to take more people to the mission field so they can see first hand how God is working in the lives of people all over the world. Welcome aboard Kelsey, we can't want to see all that God is going to do in and through you. Steve Harney is the founder, director and CEO of Cool Kids Ministries. Steve has been a Pastor, Youth Pastor, Music Pastor and a Children's Pastor over the past 40 years. He began traveling with an evangelist when he was just 17 and has been preaching and teaching ever since. Steve is a graduate of Baptist Bible College with a BA in Theology and also has a Masters in Theology from Antioch Seminary. For the past 14 years he and Cheryl have been traveling America and the world telling boys and girls about Christ and teaching adults how to be more successful at reaching children. Each summer they conduct camps, VBS programs and then in the spring and fall they do teacher training sessions, Nights of Illusions and encourage children's ministry workers and Pastors to keep reaching this generation for Christ. Steve is also an author of more than 20 books regarding children's ministry and has written for Children's Ministry Magazine as well as having been a facilitator for Children's Ministry Magazine Live Workshops for 5 years. In 2015, the Cool Kids Ministries Team began to grow. Today there are a total of 4 couples and 2 single young ladies who minister with Cool Kids Ministries. That is 10 people who are trying to reach the children of America and yes, even the world and we are doing it, one child at a time. We can make a difference, even if it is just for one! Kidz Storm
Each year our Team will conduct almost 50 Kidz Storms all across America. Many churches use this in place of a VBS and many as a children's revival. It is a lot of fun for young and old!
Camps
Every summer, Cool Kids Ministries will conduct 10-15 camps across America. We have a passion for reaching the children of America and telling them about Christ.
Nights of Illusions
Every year, we speak to 40,000 - 50,000 public school students teaching about character and anti-bullying. We then invite the students and their families to church for a FREE magic show.
